Have you ever been to…

I did last month and I spent a very goooood time. And I wasn’t alone, so even better 🙂
Amazing chocolate (and waffels), beautiful city and views, french look a like buildings and streets and a lot of shops (nice for windows-shopping :P). I just enjoyed my 3 days spent there and I took a lot of pictures, some of them are too nice not to show you, my friends.
And I also got familiar with AirBNB website, which seems a good solution to stay in an other city and a nice alternative to hotels and bed and breakfast! I found an accomodation in the city centre (2 minutes from Manneke Pis) for a quite ridiculous price, while all the hotels and rooms were full for a convention in the Brussel’s expo.
And guess what?! I spent also a half day in Antwerp, which is a little bit more commercial and has a huge shop street, but I didn’t have time to visit the old part, maybe next time!
Ooooh… I just love travelling! And I love sharing my journeys with a lovely company! 😉

I’m not dissappeared.

Sorry for not posting.
I’m getting mad about it, but I have to work a lot in this period and it’s summer time too. I could not resist to a day off to the beach, a dinner out or a beer with friends in this amazing city. I love Amsterdam.
I love the crowded streets in the daytime, where you can listen to almost ten different languages in the same time.  I love the canals, I love the tiny little leaning houses on them. I love the kids inside the bicycle baskets and the smile on their faces. I love the parks, the green spots, the benches all around, where you can sit and stare at the multicultural combination of this city. But the best comes at night… Amsterdam is so amazing after the beautiful rose and red sunset. Dam square is magical with the Royal Palace and the Oude Kerk enriched by yellow lights, Rokin and Muntplein are my favourite with the lights reflected in the canal. I love passing by all this beauties sitting on the back of a bike, while speaking to my friend riding it. It’s an emotion I cannot describe, I just close my mouth, gaze with my eyes and fill my heart.

Last Queen’s day… Welcome to the King: Willem Alexander!

Yesterday there was a huge party for all the Dutch people: it was the Queen’s day! But this year was unique as Queen Beatrix abdicated to her son, and now the new King, Willem Alexander!
I was in Amsterdam to celebrate this special festival and thanks to the little sunshine, people dressed in orange everywhere, nice live music in the Jordaan, big screens on Museumplein, tons of celebrating boats on every gracht and lots of exciting things to do in Vondelpark I had a really great time! It was such an emotion to see all the ceremony of the incoronation of the new King from the Museumplein and as we say here in Holland: it was extremely gezellig!
Lange leven de Koning! 😉

Life, meanwhile. In photographs.

I’ve been posting only about cooking and baking in the latest time, but I experienced (and still do 😉 ) my new dutch life in the meanwhile: sightseeing, museum, shops and other stimulating stuff I love.
Yesterday I was at the re-opening celebration of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, it was amazing: queen Beatrix, tons of people, marching bands and the incredible museum just restored. I share some pictures with you!DSC00383

Just an amazing day!

A special cake.

Easter holidays were so memorable for me and my family: we had a very great time all toghether and there was a special celebration for my baby-nephew baptism-feast. (I don’t believe in Christian religion no more, but I have respect for everyone, so I attended the ceremony anyway.) For the occasion we prepared a huge cake for 40 people like the ones you see on tv (… Cake BossBuddy Valastro and Choccywoccydoodah, you know? 😉 ) and I was asked to run wild with my imagination and decorate it. What a pleasant challenge! I do love creativity! So, with pink and white fondants, here it is what my imagination gave birth…

I was working with my brother and my sister in law from five o’clock to nine o’clock in the evening, my black trousers turned white but I absolute enjoyed every minute of my job!
These are my hand made roses…310313-1914(002)I always say: “If I didn’t study psychology, I would become a pastry-chef!” But I keep on working and dreaming on my greatest passion! I love baking and creating! 🙂
That’s the final result…
891620_10201010521735097_363568801_oEveryone was so astonished and glad about the aspect, but even about the extremely delicious, while fatty, taste! We were so proud of our piece of art! 🙂

Versatile Blogger Award… yeah!

Another award, another achivement thanks to my little blog which I create for having fun and for sharing my cooking and my life facts. I’m so proud of myself! But I have to thank all of you, my tireless followers 🙂
I received this award from Alessandra (links here to her delicious blog ), who I cannot stop thanking for that, and now I have to list seven facts you don’t know about me and spread the award to other fifteen blogs with less then 200 followers.
Let’s do it! 😉

Seven unknown facts about eightdaysweek:

1) I’m graduated in psychology (…and in this moment I’m reading your mind while you are reading my blog!:D)
2) I have a very very very strange name and I bet you won’t guess even if you try thousand times. (That’s a challenge!)
3) I started cooking cakes and biscuits when I was like 10 or 12 years old, I looked at my mother cooking like you gaze at your favourite movie star. Now I take her part and we enjoy preparing all of our dishes, salted or sweeted 😉
4) I love the nordic languages like german, scandinavian, dutch and english and I would love to learn how to speak german in a correct way. Keep on dreaming
5) I watched the whole marathon of LOTR (almost 9/10 hours) three times in my life and the last time was so memorable… While Tarantino remains my favourite director. I love him!
6) I’m happy and single. Yes. Single. Easy.
7) I love dogs. I grew up with my dobermann-dog from 9 to 18 years old, he was my best four-legs-friend. I missed him so much!

And finally 15 bloggers, with less then 200 followers, who deserve a lot:

I did it. I succeded.
It’s not easy to describe my happiness, my feelings, my joy, but I’m so proud of myself. I cannot really realize at this moment but I did it.
I found a job. I found a job in my favourite city, in my second home-country. I went away from Italy. I had the opportunity.
I changed my life. I followed my dreams and I’m making them coming true. I changed my life because I wanted so much. I made choices, even if they were difficult.

I’m almost speechless, my smile talks in my place.

I think I will update my blog in english from now, just to improve myself and to be in contact with english-speaking-people as well. I will blog about my experience here, my recipes, my life, my thoughts as I did untill now. Probably I will write something in italian, something in dutch. I have a lot of things to do, do discover, to see, to feel.

I’m happy. That’s the best thing.tumblr_mdv0nm8ltA1r2bljmo1_1280_large_edited-1 copy

Filosofia spiccia e pensieri sparsi.

E come tale, me lo godo.

Non sono sparita! 😀

Ready to cook…

Torta di pesche percoche
Ingredienti: (x 10 persone)
600gr di farina oo
200gr di zucchero
2 bicchieri di latte vegetale
1 banana matura
2 uova
4 pesche percoche grandi

Ready to eat…

Percoche peaches’ cake

600gr white flour
200gr white sugar
2 glasses of veg milk
1 ripe banana
2 eggs
4 big percoche peaches
a handful of almonds
1 sacket baking powder
1 tablespoon of baking soda

Wash, peel and cut the peaches in slices. Mix egg-yolks with sugar, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff. Add veg milk and the ripe banana to egg yolks and stir. Whip in little by little white flour, baking soda, baking powder and crushed almonds. Add then egg whites with a spoon, mixing from bottom to top. Pour the pastry in a baking tin, dust it with cinnamon and put peaches’ slices into the dough covering all the surface. Dust with sugar and cinnamon, cook in the oven at 180°C for 40 minutes. Serve at room temperature with icing sugar.

Tanti auguri a me…

Polpette al profumo di menta
Ingredienti : (x5 persone)

Ingredients: (x 5 servings)
1kg ground beef
2 garlic cloves
1 handful of parsley
mix of spices for barbecue (garlic, paprika, pepper, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, curry)
2 table spoons of breadcrumbs
3 little branches of fresh mint

Knead the ground beef with garlic, spices and breadcrumbs ’till you get a stiff mixture. Make meatballs squeezing them a little bit on top, warm up a pan with oil and put them in. Cook at medium-low heat for about 30 minutes, add fresh mint and cook for other 15 minutes at low heat. Serve with a delicious curry sause.
